Hey guys,

Wow, my history with game making thus far has not been good... Every time I start a project I leave it mid-project or my hard drive decides it is time to break...

I have no more files from my previous projects "Contamination" and "The Forgotten Realms", and also no more files at all... Had to go download everything from scratch and with South-Africa's internet that was quite a pain. I do however have some good news. Since I am almost done writing exams I am going to begin on a new RPG project called with the working title "The Spires". I know I'm not supposed to post anything here until I have screenies or a demo so that'll be up really soon. Don't want to be against forum rules, although I hope you can excuse me, I'm a n00b... Just a fatal one. :rolleyes:

So far I can't tell you much about the storyline, I gave my friend and his huge imagination the task of doing that. Hope to have something for you guys soon! :)

Here is a screenshot of the main menu. What I am planning is that the main menu will change along with your character's Alignment (Good, Neutral or Evil) This screenshot is currently of the Neutral main menu, will post the other's as soon as they are done, but bear in mind that the background is only temporary, it rotates slowly, but it will most likely look a lot better once it's done.

When the evil alignment menu's buttons are highlighted they get a semi-transparent red outline, with the light background the effect does not look that good, but the final menu for the evil alignment will be slightly darker and stormier to do the effect justice.

I have the basics for the storyline, but not many details, something about a barren desert and two ancient spires that somehow magically generate an oasis... Will get back to you on that. :P

I use box.net for my back up purposes. offcourse this isnt rock solid if they crash at the same time your still screwed.

Good job with the menus, I like that gothic font it reminds me of games on the Dos. Terrain looks good too. Only thing left is making the actual game.

^_^ Thanks, yes I also like the font! I actually spent the whole day making all the textures for the buttons in the menu, will get underway with the game real soon... Like, tomorrow. :)

I just finished modelling the first Multiplayer map, it's just a relatively small arena. 2-8 Players. Before the final versions of the game I think I'm going to change it a bit though, but right now it's all I need for all extensive purposes.

Texturing it in Blender.

Sure I will add as much detail as my framerate allows. I'm not sure at which point the model will actually affect the framerate significantly? I have a pretty decent system, but I remember a gun model in my previous game Contamination which about halved the framerate, but I have to agree it had an insane amount of polygons so it shouldn't be a problem.

As for the walls, you will most likely not be able to see the depth of the outer walls from inside the arena as it will be build with a slope like a colluseum and you're kind of in a pit, but will do. ^_^

EDIT:

Ignore the previous screenshot of the arena, a failure of my harddisk caused me to lose that model, but i'm glad I did as I remade it. Not textured yet, it only has solid color materials. (not representing that part of the models final color in any way)

The model also has no effect on my framerate in PyU3D.

Well I don't really want to double post and bump a topic like this, it has slowly faded to the deep and dark corners of the second page of the WIP section... ^_^

My story has changed quite a bit, but the game hasn't changed. Just the setting. ^_^ I am still working full speed on this in case anyone wondered.
